Interview with the DUX
On 22 September 2018, Nokwanda Xaba, was awarded the DUX award for her outstanding hard work during the year and we had the privilege to ask her questions:
What was your reaction to the award?
What challenges did you encounter during trials?
- I was shocked and grateful at the same time. I didnít expect it because the trials were really challenging for me.
What kept you motivated?
- At some point I was demotivated because things didnít go as I wanted them to, but then I remembered that I can achieve anything I put my mind to.
What advice would you give to others?
- Knowing that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength is what kept me motivated. Telling myself that I cannot afford not to reach my goals and making my parents and most importantly myself proud.
- Firstly put God in everything you do. Love all your subjects and teachers. Tell yourself that you can achieve anything you put your mind to and that you are smarter than any problem you might face. Do not compare yourself to anyone but to the person you were yesterday and compete with yourself to be a better person. Lastly you should study smart and hard and God will do the rest.
